COUNCIL MEETING at TIN PAN ALLEY

December 8, 2009

 

 

ATTENDANCE: Present: Pastor Jeff, Diane Heyman, Dave Buhr, Frank Crego, Dean Swan, Jean Rasmus, Tammy Belanger, Pat Hamby, Marie Hitz and Nancy Krumwiede.

            Absent: Deane Geiken.

 

DEVOTIONS: Pastor Jeff opened the meeting with prayer.

 

MINUTES: Approved as presented by motion and council vote.

 

 

PASTOR’S REPORT: 0 Weddings 0 Baptisms; 1 Funeral; 4 Hospital visits;

5 Nursing Home Communion: 1 IKT, 3 Heartland, 1 Asta; 0 Other Counseling.

Worship service at Heartland attended by 29 people.

            

TREASURER’S REPORT: Approved as presented by motion and council vote.

 

CORRESPONDENCE: None

 

WORSHIP and MUSIC: No Report

 

CHRISTIAN EDUCATION: No Report

 

EVANGELISM/ FELLOWSHIP and SOCIAL MINISTRY: No Report.

 

HEALTH MINISTRY: Parish Nurse Program Monthly Statistics report has been completed and filed. Copy of report is available in the church council correspondence file.

 

STEWARDSHIP: The committee received 15 responses from the stewardship bulletin insert.

 

MISSIONS:   We are providing five recordings of our Sunday worship service to shut-ins.

 

            SUB COMMITTEE-LOCAL BENEVOLENCE: Nancy provided a print out of the checks that have been written year to date. Committee will review and make recommendations.

 

SCHOLARSHIPS: No Report

 

MEMORIALS: No Report.

 

PROPERTY: North entry door lock has been repaired.

 

OLD BUSINESS: The results of the congregational survey conducted November 15, 2009 concerning our benevolence spending for the remainder of 2009 was presented as follows:

            12% (8 votes) for no change, monies to go to the ELCA as before.

            55% (36 votes) for Option 2.

            32% (21 votes) for Modified Option 2.

Council approved by motion and vote (5 to 3) “Option 2" for the Church’s remaining 2009 benevolence of $4,000.00, which has been on hold since September 2009.

            Option 2 is:

            20%    Central Southern Illinois Synod of the ELCA.

            20%    Lutheran Core.

            10%    Each to Lutheran Global Health, Lutheran Disaster Relief, Lutheran World Relief,

                        Lutheran Prison Ministry, Lutheran Social Services, Lutheran Core’s Hispanic/

                        African Congregations.

 

            By motion and council vote, the proposed 2010 Budget was recommended to be presented to the congregation for approval at the annual meeting in January 2010.

 

NEW BUSINESS: Paxton Area Ministerial Association has requested that we participate in supplying 10 shopping bags of food items for PBL needy families as part of the December food drive. This request was approved by motion and council vote.

 

            Council agreed to set the amount of the annual matching funds drive to $1000.00 for the current year. This will be announced in the bulletins and during the Sunday services the month of December.
