Bishop Warren Freiheit will be at First Lutheran on Tuesday,
September 28 at 7 p.m. to address concerns and questions about
the ELCA. Homemade cookies and coffee will be served.
Please take the time to explore these issues. Questions
for the bishop may be sent to the church office or to council
president Diane Heyman. We look forward to seeing you
there.
Food Sunday...The first Sunday of
the month is designated as Food Sunday. Please bring
canned foods, non-perishable foods, paper, and soap products for
the Food County Food Pantry at Route 45 and E. Summer Street.
The pantry is open every Thursday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 12
noon.
Get Healthy, Get Fit Weight Management
Class... Although we have completed our class we have
decided to meet once a month to offer support to each other,
weigh-in, and share any new ideas we have come across. We
will meet on the first Wednesday of the month at 7 p.m., right
after the exercise group. Anyone who is interested in
monitoring their weight or needs support on their weight loss
journey is welcome to join us. Come out and work with us
so we can continue to work towards a Healthy Body, Healthy Mind
and Healthy Spirit. Also available is an exercise group
that meets on Monday, Wednesday and Friday evenings at 6 p.m. in
the church basement. Walkers have begun walking again at
Glen Cemetery on Tuesdays and Thursdays, at 6 p.m. and on
Saturday morning at 9 a.m. You are not required to be at
every session of the group, only those that work in your
schedule. If you are interested in any of these groups,
just show up. For more information, contact Sue Hanson at
suern95@hotmail.com.
We congratulate the following
youth who were confirmed at
First Lutheran on Sunday, June 13: Paige Adkins, Nick Buhr,
Vaughn Gentzler, Jennifer Hustedt, Tyler Rubarts, and Harrison
Short.
First Lutheran church members who are continuing their schooling
and are in good standing are eligible to receive a college
scholarship. The application and scholarship program
rules are on a link on the left side of this page. The
deadline for returning the application to the church office is
August 8, 2010.
IGA Rebate Program
― start saving your receipts
because beginning Oct. 1 the Paxton IGA will be offering rebate
checks to First Lutheran Church for the receipts they receive
for your purchases there. There are red boxes located in the
church for you to deposit your receipts in. This is an easy way
to increase your donation to our church. Thank You!
Shut-In Mission
-- If you would enjoy hearing our Sunday
morning worship services but are unable to make it to church,
you can receive the service on CD. Please call the church
office for a copy to be given to you. A CD player can be
made available as well.
