The First Lutheran Church welcomes you to worship with us. First Lutheran is a congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America (ELCA). Holy Communion is celebrated on the first and third Sundays. Worship Times Week after Labor Day through the week after Memorial Day CONTEMPORARY SUNDAY SERVICE: 8 a.m. TRADITIONAL SUNDAY SERVICE: 10:30 a.m. SUNDAY SCHOOL FOR ALL AGES: 9:15 a.m. Summer Worship Schedule--The summer worship schedule starts the Sunday after Labor Day with one service at 9 a.m. alternating each Sunday between the traditional and contemporary service. Communion is offered the first and second Sunday of the month. There is no Sunday School during the summer months.
Lenten Soup/Sandwich Meals and Lenten Vespers...Every Wednesday during Lent the First Lutheran LYO will prepare
soup and sandwiches for people to dine on before the Vespers
service. The meals are at 5:30 p.m. and are held in the
church basement. The vespers service is at 6:30 p.m.
Everyone is invited to attend these meals and services.
Donations will be accepted for the LYO.
Our Midweek Lenten series, "Shadows of the cross" continues. Join us at 6:30 p.m. each Wednesday during Lent. Get Healthy, Get Fit Weight Management Class...Are you making weight management and/or exercise a New Year's resolution in 2010? We are starting a healthy weight management class one night a week in mid January. We will meet on Tuesdays from 6:30 to 8 p.m. beginning on January 18th. This class will be open to men and women of all ages, and information is geared to each of us for our individual needs and abilities. The class will include health tips, exercise tips, nutritional tips with healthy recipes and a health based Bible study. There will be a $10 charge to cover the expenses for the materials needed. If you would like to attend and the cost is prohibitive please see a member of the Health Ministry Committee so we can help you join us. If you are interested contact Sue Hanson at suern95@hotmail.com. IGA Rebate Program ― start saving your receipts because beginning Oct. 1 the Paxton IGA will be offering rebate checks to First Lutheran Church for the receipts they receive for your purchases there. There are red boxes located in the church for you to deposit your receipts in. This is an easy way to increase your donation to our church. Thank You! Shut-In Mission -- If you would enjoy hearing our Sunday morning worship services but are unable to make it to church, you can receive the service on CD. Please call the church office for a copy to be given to you. A CD player can be made available as well. Mother-Daughter-Friend Salad Supper -- We are planning a Mother-Daughter-Friend Banquet for Tuesday, April 6, at 6 p.m. in the church basement. Please sign up for how many are coming so we can set up enough tables. Everyone attending is asked to bring a salad to share. We have a program by Deb Hart called Giggles and God planned for the evening. Please mark your calendars for this date and watch for the sign-up sheet in the next couple of weeks.
